"…We grew up on the same Pantera, NIN, Alice In Chains records as [our fans] did and we strive to stay close and personal...We love to have a round of Jager [and] talk about the same things as our listeners…We consider them family." -Patrick Kennison
Heaven Below isn’t new to the music scene. Patrick Kennison (vocals/guitars) performed with The Union Underground, and John Younger (bass) rocked with DJ Ashba of Guns N’ Roses and Sixx AM. Their lineup underwent recent changes wrought by musical evolution; After the original drummer parted on amicable terms, Bones Elias of Dead By Sunrise and Julien K (Orgy) notoriety joined the fray. And fresh-to-Hollywood Jesse Billson (guitars) keeps the group grounded.
Their forthcoming second album, Falling From Zero (Dec. 2011), delivers a delectable audio orgasm. A brief, symphonic intro transitions into a hard-hitting, fast-paced first full track. The sixth track, “My Undoing,” is slower, where fleeting melancholy guitar chords tug at the soul. Limited f-bombs are dropped with veracity on “Demonocracy.” The title track, “Falling From Zero,” delivers heavy drums and gritty vocals prior to the final refrain that adds depth to Kennison’s vocal prowess. “Villains of Virtue,” chock-full of inner angst, derived from a nightmare of Kennison’s. Thought-provoking lyrics and a heart-pounding guitar duet riddle “Be All End All.” A slap in the face to haters everywhere, “Failure Notice” flaunts flaws with pride. The final track, “Legions of the Brave,” delivers almost eerie guitar chords and powerful lyrics. The closing track, a wicked cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” completes the band’s sophomore release.
Falling From Zero embodies an evolving genre and meshes decades of rock into an eclectic album. The group performs cohesively; Kennison conveys lyrics with emotional precision. The technologically-inclined Billson, business-savvy Kennison, social-butterfly-extraordinaire Bones, and easy-going Younger take pride in their upcoming self-produced, professional album.
Heaven Below recently aligned with such groups as Three Days Grace and Papa Roach by joining Children Without A Voice USA to promote awareness of child abuse and bullying. They hold the esteemed privilege of creating the organization’s theme song and video. On September 6th, 2011, a 3-track Mega-Single drops for “The Mirror Never Lies”, the first single off Falling From Zero. It features the original studio version, an exclusive techno-ridden remix, and an exclusive compelling piano version which illuminates Kennison’s raw vocal strength. Portions of proceeds from Mega-Single sales will be donated to Children Without A Voice USA. For more information on this worthy cause, visit www.childrenwithoutavoiceusa.org
