The oddball quintet, Band of Heathens, newest release One Foot in the Ether is similar to a good stew. Massive bursts of intense
flavors perfectly sprinkled in give this album the edge any off the cuff rocker fanatic is looking for.
The band's first two releases were recorded live from their hometown of Austin, Texas in the finest of establishments. From their first two releases the
boys have found themselves with a fleet of followers which pushed them toward their fourth release One Foot in the Ether.
Sprinkles of old country infused with alt-country blues funk, these guys enjoy the concept of jam which many artists take great pleasure in doing but
fall short of accomplishing. This band falls into the crowd with an all star class of excellent songwriters like Old Crow Medicine Show, Drive- By Truckers, and Ryan Bingham.
Each song on this album is different. “L.A. County Blues” pays homage to the late, great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, the Godfather of Gonzo journalism.
For those of you unfamiliar, he was the creator of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.” The track “Golden Calf” showcases a southwestern Texas jailhouse
rock feel. The other tracks on the album use optimism, Biblical allusions, as well as a Captain Planet sense of heroism in their lyrics.
Cowboy or city slicker, everyone can and will enjoy this album. Put this album in the CD player and enjoy the ride. Check out the Band of Heathens
